If you’ve never experienced a Portillo’s Chicago style hot dog, quickly exit away from this blog, get in your car (or on a plane) and go to Portillo’s. And don’t be one of those people who just gets it with Ketchup. They WILL hate you and judge you.
Now, if you’re like me, you don’t live close to a Portillo’s. So what do you do when you get the craving?
You order it online and have it sent to your house every other month. Yup. I did that. I joined their Portillo’s 365 program. And I feel NO shame.
So now, every other month a lovely box arrives full of fatty deliciousness. This month was THE Portillo’s Hot Dog. The box came with EVERYTHING, from the hot dog, mustard, seasoning, buns, onions, tomatoes, pickles, pickle relish, sports peppers AND a paper Portillo’s hat.
The only thing you have to do is slice up the tomato, dice up the onion, boil the hot dogs, microwave the buns, and assemble. The whole house was happy and I had an easy meal without venturing out to the grocery store or picking up the phone for delivery.
I’m pretty sure my boyfriend cried as he took his first bite. I saw a tear. It was that good.
