My weekend travel plans are squashed by icky roads. I find myself with more than enough quality time with my tv and favorite Christmas movies. This is the right level of human interaction after a full week of peopling.
Ralphie and I are enjoying a hot bowl of our Own Best Company Chocolate Steel Cut Oatmeal.
If you are already holiday-ed out this might be the perfect comfort food for a morning of hibernation. You will need:
- 2 cups almond milk
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 1 mashed banana
- 2 TBS cocoa
- 1/4 cup of dark chocolate chips
- maple syrup to taste
Bring the milk and water to boil. Whisk in the oats, cocoa, and banana. Turn down the heat to low and let the oats cook through for around 20 minutes. Stir every once in awhile to keep from sticking. Stir in the chocolate chips to melt. Serve up with a squig or two of maple syrup, wrap yourself up in a cozy blanket and three day old sweats, and plant yo hinie in front of a great Christmas movie for the morning. We are our own best company.
